We checked out of the hotel on Monday morning since we’d be staying in Olbia for the night before our early flight on Tuesday. Our first stop was a beach north of Cala Gonone and the route took us high above the harbor with a nice view of the city.
You had to be careful on the road, though, as in addition to being very narrow there were some local residents who liked to cross unexpectedly.
Even though the beach was accessible by car, it was by no means easy accessible. The final couple of kilometers were on dirt / sand, but we ultimately made it. It was worth the trouble, though, as the beach was very nice.
We stayed at the beach for a couple of hours before heading up to Orosei for lunch. We saw a bit of the city while searching for a restaurant and ultimately found a small café that served sandwiches and gelato.
After lunch we went to a beach near Orosei for our final stop. As we were walking around to find a spot, we noticed an area with chairs and umbrellas set up. It turned out that the area was specifically for the guests of a beachfront hotel and thus off limits to us. However, given how hot it was and the fact that we had neither an umbrella nor chairs, we decided to take our chances by pretending to be guests.
Our gamble paid off as we were able to enjoy the beach amenities for the balance of the afternoon. On occasion a hotel lifeguard would walk by and seemingly check to make sure everything was in order. But I guess we passed the test of looking like hotel guests as he never gave us a second look. Or perhaps he was simply distracted...err...focused on more pressing matters -- namely the large group of girls nearby.

After leaving the beach we drove to our hotel in Olbia. It was in the heart of the old town and was surrounded by extremely narrow one-way streets. Olbia seemed nice from what we saw, but unfortunately we didn’t have any time to properly explore the city. Instead our visit consisted solely of going out to dinner at a restaurant literally steps from the hotel. We were in luck, though, as the food was very good.
