After finishing up at the Medina Azahara, we were off to Sevilla. Fortunately, Emilie figured out how to get the car into reverse, so I was off the hook in terms of getting us out of the parking spot manually.
The drive to Sevilla was very pretty, with rolling hills and plenty of afternoon sun. There were also a couple of massive bull signs that we passed, which must have had some significance but were completely lost upon us.
After arriving in Sevilla (and battling the one way streets of the old town for longer than we’d care to admit), we quickly dropped our things off at the hotel and headed out for dinner. Emilie found a tapas bar in the heart of the city and fortunately the tapas were much better than those at lunch in Cordoba. We basically just ordered a couple of plates…and a couple more plates…and a couple more plates…until we were (too) full.
After dinner we were inspired by the Spanish culture and decided to head out for a bit. I had found a place online that is known for impromptu Flamenco dance and guitar performances late at night, so we decided to give it a try. And it turned out to be great – we saw a number of different performers and it had a feel of a place were people who truly enjoyed there craft went to entertain those who thoroughly appreciated it.
After a couple of hours we headed back to the hotel. We had been told good things about the hotel’s roof deck, so I headed up and took some pictures. There was indeed a great view of the cathedral.
