Hiking in Valais

Today Emilie and I went on a hike in the mountains in the Valais area of Switzerland near the border with France. The weather was beautiful, with plenty of sun and some high clouds.

Here's a picture that i took shortly after we started.

The initial portion of the hike was actually more of a climb, with some steep areas that required a bit more effort than expected.

The trail was a bit overgrown, so at times we had to walk through some pretty thick brush.

Once we got to a certain height, we had a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. It got a bit cloudier at this point, so it cooled down a lot.

Here's a photo I took of Emilie during the final climb.

We stopped for lunch near the base of a large glacier. The hike up had taken longer than expected and we were absolutely famished by this point. Emilie had packed a nice lunch for us, though, so we...err she...had come prepared.

Here's a picture that Emilie took during our lunch break. It seems as though I was doing some existential thinking.

The hike down was pretty exhausing, but at least the final part was flat and offered a nice view. The only thing that I could focus on at this point was getting back to the car in order to get off my feet.
