The Arrival

Today my parents arrived in Lausanne to kick-off their two week Switzerland trip. It's their first visit since I moved here, so I'm excited to finally be able to show them first-hand the place that I now call "home."

They flew in to Zurich direct from L.A. and then took the train to Lausanne. Unfortunately, my mom's cell phone doesn't work internationally (something to do with Verizon's network), so they were pretty much on their own in terms of navigating their way to my apartment with little more than the instructions that I had emailed.

Based on their flight arrival time and the train schedule, I expected them to be at the apartment around 6pm. But time kept going by with no sign of them. And since they had no way to reach me (and vice versa), I started to worry a bit.

Fortunately, they eventually arrived and had simply lost a little time here and there while navigating the route and hauling the various suitcases and bags required for the extended visit.

Here's a picture of Emilie and my mom as we sat down for a light dinner and discussed my parents first impressions of Switzerland and Lausanne.
