Lac d'Annecy

Today we went to Lac d’Annecy for the day to celebrate Emilie and Cécile’s birthdays. Our first stop was a lakefront restaurant in Veyrier du Lac called La Nouvelle Maison de Marc Veyrat. As the weather was warm and sunny, it was the perfect spot for a b-day lunch.

Here’s the view from the deck where they served us an apéritif and amuse-bouche before we headed inside.

For lunch we engorged ourselves and it was very good. Here are some of the plates.

Given my ignorance with respect to quality cheeses, I deferred to the server to make the selection for me.

During the meal the restaurant’s owner was walking around and offered to take a picture with us. He seemed to like the Johnny Cash wardrobe, which was a bit surprising given that it was in the mid-80s and all black attire could not have been comfortable.

For dessert we wobbled out to the deck for some fresh air. And it turned out that the gluttony continued as there were effectively three dessert courses.

Here’s a picture of Emilie and me after lunch trying our best to look like we're not going into food comas (though only partially succeeding).

After lunch we rented a boat to take a ride on the lake. Yvain and Cécile both have boat licenses, so we were all set with them at the helm.

The clouds came in pretty fast after lunch, which cooled down the temperature a lot.

Here’s the view of the restaurant from the lake.

Toward the end of the boat ride we headed towards Annecy at the northern end of the lake. Here are some shots of the city.
