This weekend we headed to France for Emilie’s mom’s birthday. It also provided possibly the last opportunity for some x-country skiing this season.
We ended up skiing both days with vastly different conditions despite going to the same spot. On Saturday afternoon it was brisk with somewhat icy trails, while on Sunday morning it was beautiful (even a bit warm at times) with generally perfect conditions. You’ll have to take my word for it, though, as my (old) digital camera decided to stop functioning so I wasn’t able to take any photos.
On Saturday night we watched a French movie called Welcome, which came out last year. I had never heard of it, but ended up enjoying it very much. It’s about a French swim coach in Calais who befriends an Kurdish illegal immigrant from Iraq who wants to swim across the English Channel to meet up with his girlfriend after being denied entry into Britain.
